key&kite woodworking

My name is Danny Montoya and I began key&kite Woodworking as a side project during my twelve years as a kindergarten and first grade teacher. I recently quit teaching and have since been designing and creating a myriad of custom pieces full time.

My work is constructed mainly of reclaimed/repurposed or found wood, palettes and scraps. Some of my work can be found on Etsy but I mainly create custom pieces through commission.

Please contact me if you are interested in collaborating on design or if you'd like to order custom work.

Follow @keyandkite on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook to keep posted on my latest chicanery.

  • Here are some items for sale this weekend, August 4th and 5th at my “Driftwood” pop-up bicycle shop. I’ll be riding my bike around San Francisco and setting up shop out of my trailer at Dolores Park, the Castro, North Beach and a couple of other spots. Follow me on Instagram and Twitter @keyandkite to keep posted on the shop’s whereabouts. I accept card through Square and cash of course!

  • Here’s some cutting boards I made. The large one was for a kitchen island I made. It is made of walnut with red oak rails. The mandolin is made of cherry wood. I made the small cutting board right before going on a bike ride… because I wanted to have a picnic. I made walnut veneers for the knife… because I wanted to. The picnic ones sold at General Store (not sure if there are any left).
