key&kite woodworking

My name is Danny Montoya and I began key&kite Woodworking as a side project during my twelve years as a kindergarten and first grade teacher. I recently quit teaching and have since been designing and creating a myriad of custom pieces full time.

My work is constructed mainly of reclaimed/repurposed or found wood, palettes and scraps. Some of my work can be found on Etsy but I mainly create custom pieces through commission.

Please contact me if you are interested in collaborating on design or if you'd like to order custom work.

Follow @keyandkite on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook to keep posted on my latest chicanery.

  • This is a prototype magazine rack I made a year and a half ago. It’s one of my favorite things I’ve ever made. I made it for my friend David Rager before he had to fly back to Paris. Upon his return home he found the magazine rack absolutely demolished by the bag handlers. Luckily I asked David to take a picture of it before he flew back. This photo does not really give it justice but it’s the only one that exists. Oh well, I need to make more of these.
