key&kite woodworking

My name is Danny Montoya and I began key&kite Woodworking as a side project during my twelve years as a kindergarten and first grade teacher. I recently quit teaching and have since been designing and creating a myriad of custom pieces full time.

My work is constructed mainly of reclaimed/repurposed or found wood, palettes and scraps. Some of my work can be found on Etsy but I mainly create custom pieces through commission.

Please contact me if you are interested in collaborating on design or if you'd like to order custom work.

Follow @keyandkite on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook to keep posted on my latest chicanery.

  • I go swimming in the bay and wanted a lock box to hold my clothes while I’m out there. This thing changed my life. All my other bikes are now neglected. It’s made of plate-joined, scrap cherry wood with a polyurethane finish.

The next basket was a birthday present I made for the wifey. It’s made of redwood and luan strips on a pine base with a poly and varnish finish. It’s really light and sturdy and she is stoked.
